11. Read the text. Are the sentences true (T) or false (F)? When was the last time you did something creative? It may always have been the case that the majority of the population is not involved in the creative process most of the time. The other argument is that we are losing our creativity as a result of having everything handed to us on a plate. Technology has made it easier to deal with everyday problems and tasks without having to put much brain power to use. With the arrival of artificial intelligence this trend is sure to deepen. It is only natural to want to simplify or streamline routine chores – this is what humans have been doing for centuries as they develop and learn. So, what can we do to stimulate our creativity? The simplest step is probably to force ourselves to think issues through before looking for a quick answer on the internet. This triggers certain areas of the brain and keeps us alert and pro-active. Considering the ‘why?’ of a particular issue rather than the ‘what?’ is much more beneficial for our thought processes. Unfortunately, many systems of education still focus on learning by endless repetition and assessment. In a world where we can find the answer to practically any question you can think of in just a few seconds, taking time to think through the ‘why?’ is an unnecessary effort fewer and fewer people are willing to make. 1. Nowadays, people often get the chance to prove they are creative. 2. One way to stimulate creativity is to use the internet more often. 3. Education systems based on assessment, facts, and figures are not going to improve our thought processes. 4. Using technology doesn’t help us to be more creative. 5. Not many people today are interested in thinking about why something happened.

Detailed scanners are used to reveal which parts of the brain light up when we experience particular situations or feelings. These 3D electronic scans are proving extremely useful in combating a wide range of illnesses and conditions. 3. __ Another exciting development in this field is work on creating ever more efficient connections between the brain and computers. It has already been demonstrated that it is possible to control simple actions on a screen with a thought alone. 4. __ So what are the dangers of such progress? If we move closer to connecting our brains to computer systems, how will we know that we are still thinking independently? It may be that governments or large corporations will be able to interfere with our thought processes and affect our choices. 5. __ Whatever happens, one thing is certain – people will happily embrace any advance that is either an improvement in our lives, or provides the opportunity for additional entertainment. It seems that we are addicted to hi-tech solutions and are always eager to explore new possibilities. a. Thought control for all b. Damage to our health c. Not only positives d.
