Next, I will tell you about the cause of the disaster.Then, I will tell you about conditions of the disaster. And finally I will tell you about rescue.
So, it happened on 21 November 2006 at 4.30p.m. The accident was at the 1030m level in a coal bed 506, of course in the Halemba Coal Mine. As a result of this accident 23 people were fatally injured.
v Let’s move on to the cause of the disaster.
v As reported the emergency services - it was an explosion and ignition of methane.
v A probable cause of ignition could be hazardous accumulation of methane, poor condition ofelectrical device or spontaneous fire in sparks from rock burst friction.
v The minershadlittle chanceof survivinga disaster, because aftera methane ignition andexplosionwas sharprise of temperature.
ü Now, let’s move on to the conditions of this accident.
ü So, the conditions were poor.
ü In the period from 17 to 21 November exceeded limit values of methane concentration were 44 times registered by a detector.
ü Despite this fact the employees were not evacuated from the endangered zone.
And now, I’d like to tell you about the rescue.The rescue action was difficult due to high concentration of methane and high temperature.Rescuersbegan to builda specialdam, which was tolimit the spread ofmethane.Then they began toventilatethe sidewalk.Unfortunately, all the miners died.
