Write a short article for your school newspaper about air pollution (80-100 words). Usethe notes below and the text in Ex. H as a model.
• What different kinds of pollution are Ihere? (air, waler, soil etc)
• Where does air pollution come from? (fumes from cars and factories etc)
• How can we help the problem? (use buses or the metro instead of the car, walk or rideyour bieycle)
tekst H
There are several kinds 46) environmental pollution. They are air pollution, soilpollution, water pollution, and pollution caused by noise, and radiation. All parts of theenvironment are closely connected.Pollution mostly comes 47) factories, farms, and houses. Factories spill hugeamounts of waste into the water each year. Waste produced by farms include animal waste, fertilizers, and pesticides. Waste from houses, offices, hospitals, and factories spill into thewater. Another major pollutant of water is oil. Oil enters oceans primarily 48) aresult of oil tanker accidents. These oil spills ruin our beautiful beaches and kill birds andmarine life.To help stop water 49) , we can- clean up waste after walking our pets- put rubbish in bins- try 50) to waste water.

The air pollution
Every day, the average person inhales about 20,000 liters of air. Every time we breathe, we risk inhaling dangerous chemicals that have found their way into the air. There are many types of pollution: environmental pollution, pollution from factories, farms, and houses, water pollution, etc.
Environmental pollution is contamination of air, water and land from man-made waste. Pollution leads to depletion of the ozone layer, global warming and climate change. Air pollution is the release of chemicals and particles into the atmosphere. Water pollution includes surface runoff, leakage into groundwater, liquid spills, wastewater discharge and littering. If toxins are spilled on the ground or if an underground storage tank leaks, soil can become contaminated. Well known contaminants include herbicides and pesticides. Toxic waste is waste material, often in chemical form, which pollutes the natural environment and contaminates groundwater.
Other types of pollution include ocean pollution and noise pollution. Environmental pollution can have a deadly effect on humans and ecosystems. For example, cigarette smoke, including second-hand smoke, causes cancer, emphysema, stroke and heart attack. Drinking water can become contaminated by untreated sewage, rashes and skin problems occur due to oil spills, while excessive noise can cause hearing loss.
The air pollution come from the fumes from cars and factories, from volcanic eruptions and forest fires. We can reduce air pollution by using filters, using buses or the metro instead of the car, walk or rideyour bieycle, etc.
We must do something for us environmental ! We can- clean up waste after walking our pets, put rubbish in bins, try reduce sewage poured into rivers, which threaten our animals. Let's do something from today's environment.
