PrawdziwyJulciaakThe mission of Apollo 13 - the third mission of the Apollo program, the planned landing humans on the lunar surface. The explosion of the oxygen tank in the service module, not only prevented the landing on the moon, but also led to the start of the struggle for life of the crew. The flight was led by James A. Lovell; was the command module pilot John L. "Jack" Swigert; lunar module pilot Fred W. Haise. Swigert replaced the original command module pilot Thomas K. "Ken" Mattingly, whose doctor has eliminated the mission for fear of being Mattingly contracted rubella [3]. In fact, Mattingly got sick rubella, and brought considerable help ground controllers, during the struggle for bringing the Apollo crew to Earth. Start the mission took place April 11, 1970 year time 19:13 UTC. After two days on the way to the moon, due to damage, which was founded still on Earth, in the Service Module exploded, which caused the loss of two tanks of oxygen, depriving the command module of electricity on the way to the moon and back to the border of the Earth's atmosphere. The command module was, among other things, the power plant (fuel cells). Individual battery electrical supply to the command module was scheduled to work the last few hours, while entering the atmosphere after the rejection of the service module, which was not designed to penetrate the atmosphere. After the explosion of the liquid oxygen tank astronauts James A. Lovell, John L. "Jack" Swigert and Fred W. Haise left the command module and moved to the lunar module with the intention to return to the command module for several hours before landing. Before leaving the command module has been turned off all electrical appliances to save electricity needed when entering the atmosphere and during launching. Lunar Module was designed to staying longer than a few hours, but it was designed for two astronauts. Despite the difficulties due to shortage of electricity and the resulting number of consequences, narrowness, and the hassle of removing carbon dioxide and lack of drinking water 17 April 1970 crew successfully returned to Earth.
