Wielkanoc może wypadać pomiędzy 22 marca a 25 kwietnia. Święta Wielkanocne to wyjątkowy okres w roku. Kosciół katolicki uznaje święto to za najważniejsze w roku. Większość polaków również w te dni poświęca czas na uczestnictwo nabożeństwach kościelnych a także na spotkania w gronie rodzinnym. Z okresem Świąt Wielkanocnych wiąże się wiele tradycji, część z nich jest zachowywana do dziś, na lany poniedziałek nazywany również Śmigusem -dyngusem.
Oczywiście święta te są poprzedzone okresem specjalnych przygotowań, np część z nas robi świateczne porządki, nawet nie zdając sobie sprawy iż należą one do tradycji, symbolizują bowiem usuwanie śladów zimy a jednocześnie zła i chorób z naszych domów.
Przygotowujemy również święconkę , którą zanosimy w pięknie ozdobionych koszyczkach do kościoła w celu poświęcenia produktów.
W koszyczku wielkanocnym nie może przede wszystkim zabraknąć jajek które są symbolami nowego życia, zwykle mamy je w postaci kolorowych pisanek, baranka zazwyczaj wykonanego z czekolady lub cukru. Baranek symbolizuje umęczonego Chrystusa. Poświęcić należy również: chleb, wędlinę, chrzan, pieprz, ciasta świąteczne i sól. Na stole wielkanocnym obok mięs i ciast stawiamy koszyk ze święconką. Śniadanie wielkanocne rozpoczyna się zazwyczaj od dzielenia się poświęconym jajkiem, podobne jest w swej formie i symbolice do bożonarodzeniowego łamania się opłatkiem.
