Nowadays lots of people claim that you can buy everything for money. However money doesn't grow on trees. It's often not so easy to earn enough to make ends meet (by wiązać koniec z końcem). Besides (poza tym), people usually have to work hard if they want to possess all the things they think they need.
Money is important in life because we all live in a civilised world where everything seems to have its price. We can choose a new place to move, buy a new house, a car, attractive holidays, pay all our fees, bills or duties or purchase other best quality goods. But is it only working, buying and consuming that life is all about?
There are countless (niezliczony) things that aren't easy to obtain (do uzyskania / otrzymania) even if you are rich and money is not a problem for you. You normally cannot choose any university you want to study at if you didn't do well at school because most of them require (wymagają) very good marks in your final school report. You can't buy health. Doctors are still helpless in the face of (bezradni w obliczu)some diseases like AIDS or cancer. What about friendship? So far nobody has ever managed to buy it. Can an old man reverse (cofnąć) time and buy youth? The answer is obvious.
On the one hand, we cannot live without money in contemporary (współczesny) world because we have specific needs which have their price. There are also many things which are not indispensable (niezbędne) for living but which can make our life easier and more comfortable or even valuable. On the other hand, there are lots of things which are usually given for free or it doesn't require money to get them. Paradoxically, it's even impossible to purchase (kupić) them. These things decide about the quality or sense of our life thus (tak więc) they appear to be (wygląda na to że są) the most important ones. Examples of them are freedom, friendship, health or youth. And of course - you cannot buy happiness!
