I have a lot of favourite books, but there is one which is really special for me. "The Little Prince" is my favourite book. I was written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is probably the most famous book and everybody knows it. The main character of this book is a little boy, who is visiting manifold planets and meets a lot of interesting people.
But why is that book very precious for me? It tells the story about friendship, love and sacrifice. A lot of poeple think that it's the book for children, but it's not true. It's a book for everybody - children can learn about a value of friendship, but for adult, that book lets him to know more about children, their problem and emotions. What's more, "The Little Prince" is really straighforward and, because of it, it was the first book I've ever read. I could learn something about love, the sense of friendship and life. Actually, that book lets me understand how to live in the society in a very simple way.
One of my favourite books of all time is Dead Poets Society by Nancy H. Kleinbaum. It is a novel based on a film of the same title. It is a story of a very prestigious and conservative American boarding high school and their students: Neil Perry, Todd Anderson and their friends. It all starts with Todd starting new school year at Dalton Academy. There is also new English teacher - Mr. Keaton. He shows his students that there is more to poetry than just words - it is emotion and beauty. Neil, Todd and their friends form a club called Dead Poets Society. It is a secret club, as school would never approve of reading poetry only for pleasure. In the meantime, Neil, whose father wants him to be a doctor, inspired by Mr. Keaton's attitude, auditions for the role of Puck in Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. He gets the role, but does not tell his father. After the play, Neil is taken by his father back home and they have a huge fight over Neil's future. Neil, convinced that his life is over, commits suicide. Dead Poets Society is over, the boys are punished for their disobeyence, Mr. Keaton is fired. At the end students show their last act of devotion for their favourite teacher.
Dead Poets Society is a book about being true to yourself and not being scared to follow your dreams. I loved the fact that it inspired me to do this very thing and stop being afraid of being myself.
