"A story should be told eye to eye,mind to mind, heart to heart."

Perhaps the best way to spend a cold winter night in Ireland is to enjoy the company of a "seanchai", a storyteller. Ireland has great stories to tell.

Myths and legends are stories about giants, warriors and kings. They are tales of heroes who overcome great obstacles, fight with magical beasts and have incredible adventures. One such legend is the story of Finn Mac Cumhail and his group of warriors, the Fianna, who protected the high kings of Ireland.

Folk tales entertain people while teaching them moral values. These stories are about very unusual characters such as fairies and elves. The most popular are the leprechauns. Their name means 'small body'. They make shoes and have a hidden pot of gold. As legend has it, if you catch a leprechaun, it must tell you where the pot of gold is. But be careful! It will try to trick you into looking away for a second, and then it will disapper!
