1. Wenger: Why Eduardo has been used sparingly

Manager Arsène Wenger has explained why striker Eduardo has been making limited appearances in the team, having not started the last few matches.

The Brazilian has only made 25 appearances this season, scoring 6 goals and hasn't been anywhere near his best, with Wenger explaining that he was still recovering from the horror injury suffered at St. Andrews two years ago.

Wenger said: "I believe he is still on his way back. He is not completely yet where he was before but the signs are positive. He is getting better and better but I knew that it would take a long time.

"Don't forget that he had a second surgery at the end of last season and that was decisive in getting him back to where he was before because the injury had affected his pace.

"After that he had a few muscle problems but now I feel him coming back.

"For a while he had not found his sharpness completely. However for the last two or three weeks in training he has been showing that he is back where he was before. But it took him a long time."

Just before Saturday's draw against Birmingham, Eduardo went over to the emergency medical staff at St. Andrews and thanked them for their efforts two years ago.

Their quick response and action probably saved his career, and his leg. Here's hoping we see him back to his very best soon.

2. Guardiola – We will always play to entertain the fans, it’s a matter of respect

Barcelona travel to the Emirates tomorrow and their manager Pep Guardiola has refused to change the way they play, whoever their opponents are. He says that a footballer’s job is simply to entertain the paying customers, and he won’t sway from that aim against Arsenal tomorrow night, even if it means losing the game.

“Since I took the job our play has been marked by brave, attacking football,” he said. “Sometimes we’ve been bold and, occasionally, I think we’ve played audaciously.

“It’s a philosophy of football. Win or lose I want us to show who we are and what kind of football we believe in. I want my team to go out and be themselves.

“Those of us lucky enough to work at this level in our profession must never forget that it’s only a sport. We live in a world where everything is spiralling in cost and many people need to make a big sacrifice in order to go and watch a game of football.

“So for me it all makes sense, the effort, the work, the planning, the concentration and the discipline, if you do it for the people. The manner in which we play is a demonstration of the respect we have for the people who pay for a ticket or pay money to watch matches on television.”

Well he has certainly gone up in my estimation since reading his comments, and I can’t help but believe that Arsene Wenger also thinks the same. I reckon that Arsenal v Barcelona could be the game of the season if both teams play to their capabilities, but I also think that Guardiola may be giving Arsenal a very good chance of winning the first leg as well!

Arsene Wenger also feels that the two clubs share the same philosophy, and I think that secretly he is really looking forward to an exhibition of excellent football between the two clubs tomorrow night.

“There are similarities there in the way we play and the way we educate young players and the way we rely on young players and in the sense of belonging to the Club,” he said.

“I believe that we want the players to have that because it is an important part in the way we see football and I believe Barcelona has that as well.

Quite often there will be plenty of possession from Arsenal, but that hasn't always resulted in three points when we've played against the likes of United and Chelsea, who are quite content to let us have the ball for the majority of the match. Bergkamp says that the team need to develop a 'ruthless streak', akin to the famous 'Invincibles', and perfect that final ball in the opponent's third of the pitch. Dubbed 'God', or the Iceman during his time at Arsenal, Bergkamp said: "I've been watching Arsenal this season and the football is fantastic. They can cut through defences no problem, so I can't agree with people who say 'this is not the way to win. "They just need to be able to finish it off. You have to shoot, to want to score goals no matter how. Just score, you can't be afraid to miss. "Arsenal always have more possession of the ball than the opponent. You don't see often a bad pass in the midfield. But in the final third, often it's a bad decision. That's so strange," added the Dutchman who won three league titles and four FA Cups in his 11 years with the Gunners, before retiring after the Champions League final defeat to Barcelona in 2006. "In my day, we knew that with our style we could hurt teams and win trophies too. But we did it our way, with the positional game, passing, movement. "Arsène Wenger's idea is not only to play good football. It's to play good football to win."
