Jest to pewne uporządkowanie, np. najważniejsza w życiu człowieka jest religia, na drugim miejscu rodzina, na trzecim kariera (albo inaczej). Osoba mając już taka hierarchię kieruje się nią w życiu: nie liczą się dla niej pieniądze, ale czas spędzony z rodzina.

Według Maxa Schelera wartości są obiektywne i normatywne (zobowiązują moralnie). Scheler przeciwstawia się subiektywnemu pojmowaniu wartości i wprowadza rozróżnienie pomiędzy wartościami i ethosem. Ethos to sfera wartości tworzona i uznawana przez tego oto konkretnego człowieka (lub grupę ludzi, pewną kulturę) - jest subiektywna i może być diametralnie różna od sfery obiektywnej. Wartości są między sobą we wzajemnych relacjach i tworzą hierarchię. Najniższe są wartości hedonistyczne (przyjemne -nieprzyjemne). Kolejne szczeble hierarchii tworzą kolejno wartości utylitarne (użyteczne - nieużyteczne), witalne (związane z życiem), duchowe (prawda - fałsz; piękno - brzydota). Najwyższym szczeblem hierarchii są wartości religijne (skoncentrowane wokół pojęcia świętości). Moralność polega na wybieraniu zgodnym z przedstawioną hierarchią wartości. Im wartość jest wyższa tym bardziej jest trwała, mniej zależna od organizmu, daje głębsze zadowolenie i jest łatwiej dzielona z innymi ludźmi. mysle ze pomogłam:)
