You were required to print out your CV and then you had to post it. These days, you can just look for ads online and then email your CV. Easy! However no employer wants to read through hundreds or thousands of applications. Apparently, a computer does it for them. Another difference is that you didn’t have to have quite so many skills in the past. Technology skills, for example, weren’t required for most jobs but today they're essential. You've also got to know how to use social media in order to network, but of course you should/must be careful about what you post online. In the past, you didn't have/need to worry about your employer seeing photos of your last birthday party online, but that's not true anymore!
