I think that students should not be assessed, or they should not be assessed in the way they are now. I think that assessment should be based on self-reflection, which means that students should judge themselves if they have improved their skills. Traditional assessment methods were appropriate thirty years ago and now the reality is different and so should be the means of assessing students’ progress. If education is focused on assessment, students learn not the things they should, but the things they are assessed against. This is not a good approach.
