1. Guy Fawkes was an Englishman from York. He was a militant Catholic.

2. He tried to kill King James (the) I because the kind was not Catholic. Fawkes wanted a Catholic king on the English throne.

3. He did not succeed. He and his friends wanted to blow up the palace. Fawkes guarded the gunpowder. But somebody wrote an anonymous letter to the authorities about the plot and Guy Fawkes was discovered.

4. There is fireworks and a bonfire, and Guy Fawkes is burned on the bonfire.
