Ogólnie w reported speech, musisz przekształcić zdanie tak, jakbyś w trzeciej osobie cytował czyją wypowiedź. Wszystkie czasowniki z oryginalnej wypowiedzi 'cofasz' o jeden czas do tyłu (np. z present simple na past simple, present continuous na past continuous itd.)  i zmieniasz słowa typu "today" na "that day", "tomorrow" na "the following day", "yesterday" na "day before" ponieważ nie możesz napisać 'wczoraj' w tekście, który ktoś będzie czytał np. miesiąc później.
