Dear Mary,

I had a birthday party last week. I turned 18. I organised it at my house. I invited a lot of friends. Some of them couldn't make it because the party was during the winter holidays and they had gone somewhere with their families.

I prepared a lot of food: cold dishes, dishes served hot, some appetisers, salads. There was juice and champagne to drink. Of course, there was also a huge birthday cake and a few kinds of cakes made specially for the occasion.

We had a great time, we danced and had fun. I got a lot of presents. I especially liked the pot plant that I got from one of my friends. We partied until the morning.

It's a shame that you couldn't come. Please give my regards to your family. I hope you will write back to me soon.
