When he was at school, he sang in a band as a hobby but he planned to go to university to study Maths. Unfortunately, he was in an accident when he was 17 and spent six months in hospital. The accident happened late at night when he was cycling home from a party. It was dark when he left the party and he didn't have any bike lights. However, there wasn't much traffic so he decided to cycle anyway. As he was cycling through the centre of the town he was hit by a car. The driver, Katy, was going too fast so she didn't see Francis until it was too late. Luckily, Katy stopped and took him to hospital.
