Everyone has heard stories of guard dogs defending their homes against robbers. But not everyone has heard of cats doing the same! But that’s just what happened one warm August night in the Polish town of Plock. Mr. and Mrs. Kolodziejczyk were at the theater. Their house was empty except for their cat “Kicia,” who was sleeping peacefully in the living room.
At approximately 9:30 pm a man climbed into the Kolodziejczyks’ home through an open window. He started putting jewelry and electronics into his bag. Suddenly, Kicia jumped on him and scratched his arms and legs. The robber dropped his bag and ran to the door. He made so much noise that the neighbors came out and caught the robber. When the police came, they arrested him. They also had to stop the bleeding in his legs and arms that brave Kicia caused.
When Mr and Mrs Kolodziejczyk returned from the theater, they found the police interviewing the robber. They realized that their brave guard cat saved their house. As a thank-you, they gave Kicia fish for dinner. Now everybody was happy - except for the robber.
