James: But is it really a sport?
Martin: Yes, it’s an Olympic sport and it isn’t easy! Madeleine and I practise every day after school for three hours. And at the weekend we practise for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. We want to win an Olympic medal one day.
Madeleine: We also have dance lessons once a week because ice-skaters must move well on the ice.
James: Do you do any other sports?
Madeleine: Well, I do gymnastics at school, and in the holidays I go swimming. I love the sea but Martin hates the water.
Martin: That’s right. I can’t swim, so I don’t go with Madeleine. I go mountain biking instead.
James: So when do you find time to eat and sleep and do your homework?
Martin: It’s difficult. We get up at five every morning – two hours before our friends! Then we have breakfast and do our homework before school.
Madeleine: We can’t do our homework at night because we’re tired. We go to bed at nine.
James: That’s a long day! Well, thank you for speaking to me and good luck in the next Olympics!
