But there was good news in 2005, when the first scheduled flights to island began to arrive at the new airport .There are plans to make Plymouth , which is still covered in ash ,into the Pompeii of the Caribbean and to bring tourists to see what was once the capital;however the south is still too dangerous to visit while the volcano is active.Some of the people who lleft have come back to live on Montserrat again and they bring with them the hope that life on the island is going to be just as it was before the first black cloud came down from the volcano. Surprisingly no one died and no one was injured that day but for their own safety the people had to leave their homes and go and live in the north of the island.Unfortunately it wasn't the only eruption.There were several more over the next two years and then in 1997 came the biggest eruptions of all.
