1. Complete the newspaper article with the Past Simple, Continuous or Perfect forms of the verbs in brackets.

Mr Parker (go) towards the main building when the explosion happened. 'I (be) very lucky. I (park) my car two minutes before and (walk) to the office. Suddenly there was a great flash of light and then the loudest bang I have ever heard. I (fall over) but I (not be) hurt badly.'

Clara Kent (drive) to the offices to collect her fiancé, Greg. 'I (arrive) at 3.55 p.m. and Greg was ready so he (get in) and I (drive) away. As we (drive) away from the building, we (see) this huge white light but we (not hear) the noise until a second later.

2. Read the paragraph and change the underlined verbs with used to or would. Use would wherever possible.

When I was a child, we lived in the city but my grandparents lived in the country and we wentwould go to their house for Christmas. Each year, my mother didwould do all the work. She boughtwould buy and wrapped all the presents, she packed suitcases for the whole family and then she put everything in the car on Christmas Eve. Dręczy mnie sytuacja przed sytuacją, według mnie bardziej pasował by tam czas Past Perfect (ale nie mamy takiego dostępnego) "I had parked"
