1.Complete a student's speech about Richard Harris with one word in each gap.
What do we 1)........ about his childhood? He was one of nine children born in Limerick, Ireland. As a boy, he was an excellent rugby player and could have possibly become an international player. Maybe you're 2)......... why he didn't. Well, unfortunately, he became ill with tuberculosis as a teenager which destroyed that dream. His love of rugby was shown in the film, This Sporting Life, the story of a working class boy who was an excellent rugby player. As this story was so true to his real life, you won't be 3)........... to learn that he was nominated for an Oscar for his role. You may be wondering 4)......... he was chosen to play the lead role in a musical about King Arthur in 1967. He wasn't a great singer but, if you saw the film, I'm 5)............. you would agree that he was a great person to choose for the role. And, 6)......... you know that, although he was not a great singer, he recorded several records in the 1960s? Why do you 7)........ he was, and still is, so popular even though he died in 2002? He was a good actor, of course, but there was more to it than that. He was always a rebel and always fought against authority, even as Professor Dumbledore! It's 8)......... surprise that he is very popular in Ireland where there has been a long history of fighting against those in power.
