Dear Steve,

Thanks for your letter. Are you enjoying the student exchange in York?

We’re in Bridgetown, Barbados now and the weather is fantastic. It’s much better than in Spain!

We’re staying in Barbados for one week, so I’m trying to see lots of different places. The people are very friendly and they laugh and smile a lot. I like it here. On the boat I cook lunch every day, but in Barbados we usually eat in restaurants or we have a picnic on the beach.

I’m sitting in a café at the moment, and I’m writing this on the laptop. I’m wearing my T-shirt and shorts because the temperature is 34ºC. Actually, it’s raining now – it rains for about half an hour every day in June. I always wear sunglasses … oh, and I’m wearing your cap! Thanks!

I’m buying presents for everyone.

are sitting  at the table in the kitchen. They always 
eat  their breakfast at eight o’clock and Mark’s dad always
reads his favourite newspaper. 

      Mark isn’t eating – he’s got a pen and some paper. ‘Why are you writing a letter now, Mark?’ asks his dad.

      ‘I 'm writing a letter,’ says Mark. ‘I 'm doing my English homework.’

      Mark’s mum always shouting  at him when he’s late for school. ‘Hurry up,’ she says. ‘It’s half past eight!’

      Mark is going to school now. He is running because he’s late ... but his homework is on the table in the kitchen!
