before - przed / zanim
after - po / potem / później
więc Past Perfect używasz always before BEFORE, and after AFTER :) w zdaniach gdzie jakaś czynność jest najpierw (wcześniej) a inna czynność potem (później) warto zapamiętać regułę Past Perfect
