When you ask young boys and girls what they want to be when they grow up, many say 'an astronaut.' It's usually just a dream, but for 12 people this might be a dream that comes true. They have just been accepted to the NASA Astronaut Training Programme and if they complete it successfully, they will become NASA's new astronauts.
NASA hires new Astronaut Candidates every five years. It takes around 18 months to select the best candidates for the training programme and during this time applicants have to go through many interviews and tests.
The training lasts two years, but not everyone becomes an astronaut at the end of it. Only a selection of the best candidates are offered that job.
