The stucture of family has changed a lot over the last few decades. In the past big families were very common whereas now people appreciate being independent. More and more married couples try to be less dependent on their parents and distant relatives. I don't think that it's an appropriate solution, though.

There are many advantages of being a part of an extended family. Firstly, you never feel lonely. There is always someone to talk to or spend time with.

Moreover, your children are better at socialising when they are brought up in a big family. They gain the ability to compromise and cooperate which helps them build positive relationships with one another.

Finally, there's always someone to help you with your duties. For example, you can leave your children with their grandparents in case of emergency.

To sum up, living with an extended family has a lot of benefits. I think it's worth considering, even though it's sometimes convenient to live with your closest relatives only.
