Pitera Bruegel picture entitled "Hunters in the Snow" was painted to order merchant from Antwerp in 1565. One series of paintings depicting the seasons. Originally there were 12 images, but to this day, only 5 works which bear the titles: "Hunters in the Snow," "gloomy day", "Return of the herd," "Harvest", "Tedding". Painted oil painting on canvas 117x162cm size. Work is also called "The Return of the hunt" is now in a museum in Vienna.The main element of the image is a winter day in the picturesquely situated village. The first element, which appears in the picture is a group of hunters moving between the trees, and behind them comes a pack of dogs returning from hunting. The hunters are dressed in warm equipped with tools for hunting. Dogs accompanying a group of people are very tired after a long search of game. In the background you can see a group of people at the bonfire. You will notice plants and buildings on the pond. In the depth of the image are a group of people who use every moment to play with the children on a frozen pond. Snow covered the not only the earth but also the peaks and roofs of houses from which white smoke comes out. After the greyish sky flying birds that seek shelter from frost and food, which is extremely difficult to find to satisfy hunger afflicting their bellies. The colors that appear in the image are very sad and cold. For art is dominated by the color gray and white, but not only. The author has revived his art by adding a little bit warmer colors that appear on the homes and fire, clothing and various times dogs.
