The biggest advantage of being a teacher is the possibility to share your love of a subject with the younger generation. Teachers have the possibility to make an impact on young people and bond with them while sharing knowledge. This proccess also allows them to be creative and always keep learning themselves. Another advantage is that a big part of a teacher’s job can be done from home, such as grading tests and planning lessons. At school they have regular breaks and vacation time between the school years, which makes the work enviroment less stressful.

However, the working conditions of teaching aren’t always enjoyable. First of all, teachers are faced with disrespect from their students and society in general. It is very difficult to conduct a lesson if someone is not cooperating and some parents seem to expect that teachers will raise their children for them. Moreover, people tend to think that teaching is easy and gives a lot of free time. Furthermore, disadvantages of being a teacher also include relatively low pay. It can make teachers feel underappreciated and regret choosing this path.

In conclusion, there exist reasons to consider teaching a wonderful profession, but it can also very quickly lead to burning out. It is a personal matter to decide if the benefits outweigh the drawbacks or the other way around. What is certain is that making this field more lucrative would benefit society a lot because it would encourage more talented people to become teachers and shape young minds.
