My first day in my new work was terrible. I got up very early in order to be in office on time. I eat brekfest while watching news on TV. It was raining outside. Unfortunetly there was too much traffic so I spend more than one hour driving to work. I was late due to long comute time. I went to my boss to explain my late arrival. Fortunetely he only cut 10$ from my sallry.
First of all they sent me to Occupational safety and hazard department. It took two hours of lectures and solving stupid test to prove that I am not suicidal maniac fixed on failing down the stairs to my death.
Then an hour at Human Resources, where I had to sign even more papers.
I was ravenous before I was free to return to my desk.
On my return I've found pile of papers to sign. Regulations on network safety, intellectual property, things like that. Reading through all this babble took me more than two hours. Finally when I completed forms IT guy gave me my network password.
I quickly found out, that computer was locked down even more than I expected. No way to open YouTube or Facebook.
Finally, half an hour before end of working day, my superior found out that I was free, and presented me to rest of department.
How did you spend the first day in your office?
