Why do we need vitamins ? The answer is easy: without them our bodies couldn't work properly. They play crucial role in many biological processes like growth and healing. Vitamins can be classified under two main categories: fat-soluble and water-soluble. Fat-soluble vitamins are those that your body can store in bile acids. Water-soluble vitamins are typically absorbed quickly, while excess amounts of these vitamins are excreted through urine. Fat-soluble vitamins are: A,D,E,K and water-soulable are B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B11, B12, C. Lack of certain vitamins in our organism is called avitaminosis whereas overflow- hipervitaminosis. Because our body doesn't produce them we need to get them from the food we eat as well as via vitamin supplements. Good source of vitamins are fruits and vegetables for example, Vitamin A is found in foods such as carrots and leafy greens and is responsible for keeping your eyesight in good health. Vitamin C is found in foods like peppers and citrus fruits, and helps you fight off germs and sicknesses in addition to being good for your teeth.
