Jedna akcja powinna być w czasie przeszłym ciągłym (dłuższa), a druga w czasie przeszłym prostym (tym, który przerwał dłuższą).

Choose the correct answer.

One action should be in the Past Continuous Tense (the longer one) and the other in the Past Simple Tense (the one which interrupted the longer one).


1. We were having/had dinner when somebody knocked/was knocking at the door.

2. The boys were playing/played football when it started/was starting to rain.

3. The telephone rang/wasringing while we were leaving/left.

4. Susan drove/was driving to London when her car broke down/was breaking down.

5. The dog attacked/was attacking me when I played/was playing with him.

6. When we were getting/got home, our children were watching/watched TV as usual.


Put the verbs in brackets into the correct form: one in the Past Continuous Tense and one in the Past Simple Tense.
