A: Betty, I think you're addicted to caffeinated drinks.
B: What makes you think so? I feel fine.
A: Yes, because you just had a cup of coffee, so of course you feel fine! That's the point: you only feel fine after you've drank something with caffeine. If you don't drink a can of coke or an energy drink in the morning, you're unable to (albo: you can't) keep your eyes open. I worry for you; it is not healthy.
B: You're right... I do drink a lot of those, I guess. This is my third coffee today, and the time is... half past noon. Yesterday I had had two energy drinks by this hour. You think it's dangerous?
A: I'm sure of it. You drink much more of these than an average person. It keeps you going, sure, but if you get too much caffeine in your system, you get jittery and can't focus, not to mention you get very nervous very easily.
B: Are you saying I would feel calmer and work better if I had less caffeinated drinks? But I feel so exhausted and useless without them! I really need them.
A: You shouldn't quit entirely at once. Start with getting more sleep and taking your coffee less strong. Add milk to it. Try to reduce energy drinks, too. That will even save you some money.
B: It's not hoing to be easy... But you are right, I'm not sleeping long enough each night. I'll try to go to bed earlier tonight. Thanks for the advice. Will you support me?
A: Of course, that's what friends are for. I hope you get better soon. And I want you in bed by eleven pm tonight, remember!
B: Okay, okay. Thanks again, dear.
