As I was deciding what to do, the bus arrived. As I was getting on the bus, I got a text message from my mum: I found your homework as I was cleaning the kitchen. Wait at the bus stop. It was too late, I was on the bus. As I was thinking about what to do, I saw my mum's car behind the bus. She was driving in her pyjamas and I was very ebmarrassed. At the next bus stop, she stopped her car in front of the bus, got out and got on the bus. It was terrible! She was walking towards me in her pyjamas so I closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes I knew it wasn't a nightmare or even a dream. My mother was standing on the bus, in her pyjamas and holding my homework!

Różnica w znaczeniu jest taka:
W pierwszej formie zdanie oznacza że podczas śniadania sprawdziłem zadanie. W drugiej, że podczas śniadania sprawdzałem zadanie. Wydaje mi się jednak, że forma 1 jest "bardziej" prawidłowa.
