Think of a time when you made a decision that you regret, or a time when a friend made a bad decision. What should you have done to improve the situation?
I remember several years ago me and my friends got into a situation where we end up making another guy feel bad about himself. He was physically weak. I remember he was a nice tale writer and always seemed in slow-motion.
I regret what happened that day in 2015; when a slight breeze was the only fresh thing in the hot weather we were. On an uncomfortable bench, my group of friends were laughing at insignificant and pointless things, a careless youth was chattering and making jokes.
We spotted our classmate coming to write on the bench in front of us, he was quiet and slow, and even when we assumed the situation as usual. The regular laughter we gave to him, the regular jokes just hit different this time.
We hurt him. He was dealing with an illness, something none of us was aware of. And yet, it wasn't an excuse for the way we acted.
We made him feel worst, we said things he already thought about himself, things that were torturing his mind at that moment.
Later we found out how all these years our group was the principal cause made his anxiety about school get worst... and just because a friend of his came to talk to us.
It was too late for us, the damage was done. The only thing we could do was ask for forgiveness before he left town.
In the first place, I would like to change the way we watched the world.
We were young guys trying to be cool, we didn't think about others feelings while we were having "fun". Replaying, that surely wasn't the first time... Maybe It was... It was nothing more than the first time we realized how our words would affect everyone else.
I think we could have improved understanding we needed to think about others feeling, understanding everyone had inner struggles we didn't know, keeping in mind differences made us humans. We're different since we were born and that's just an amazing thing.
