Venus Fly Trap
Venus Fly Trap is probably the best known carnivorous plant. Having an alie
this fascinating plant has captured the imagination of many people. In fact,
cartoons have been made about this famous plant.
To attract insects, the Venus Fly Trap produces a sweet-smelling nectar
by a leaf which has two lobes. There are trigger hairs on each lobe. When a fly
and disturbs the trigger hairs, the trap snaps shut! The stiff lobes, together with t
edges, help to crush the insect's body while digestive juices dissolve it. After co
four yummy victims, the trap usually withers. Triggerring the traps repeatedly just
is not a good idea, as the traps, and eventually the plant, die.
