The passive voice is a grammatical construction in which the subject of a sentence is not the doer of the action, but rather the receiver of the action. It is used when the focus is on the action itself, rather than on who or what is performing it. In English grammar, there are two voices: active and passive. The active voice is used when the subject of the sentence performs the action, while the passive voice is used when the subject receives the action. We use the passive voice to change the focus of the sentence. We often use the passive when we prefer not to mention who or what the action done (for example, it's not known, it's obvious or we don't want to say), so that we can start a sentence with the most important or most logical information in more formal or scientific writing.
