Present tense:
1. direct = tom says, "I buy a new car"
indirect = tom says that he buys a new car.
2. direct = they say, "we go to school by bus"
indirect = they say that they go to school by bus
3. direct = she says, "I have a new bag"
indirect = she says that she has a new bag.

Past tense
1. direct = tom said, "I buy a new car"
indirect = tom said that he bought a new car.
2. direct = they said, "we go to school by bus"
indirect = they said that they went to school by bus
3. direct = she said, "i have a new bag"
indirect =  she said that she had a new bag
