Students in USA High School
High schools in the US have students who are in 9th→12th grade (ages 14-18). Students in the
United States finish everyday by 3 pm. Every student must take English, gym, math, science, history
and a foreign language (usually Spanish or French.). They can take one or more elective class:
music, art, band, computer science or shop (atelier). Students receive letter grades, A is the
highest grade, B is good, C is average, D is failing and F means complete failure. School begins at
the end of August and finishes in the middle of June. They have teams for basketball, football,
baseball, and track and field, and sometimes hockey. They practice after school, and participate in
games against other schools. Football is the most popular sport, then basketball.
