Bydgoszcz is one of major cities in Poland 8. according to the population numbers, 357 650 inhabitants; 10. according to the area, 175.98 km 2. He constitutes the large, cultural, academic, medical, military and sports economic centre. He is an intersection, train and of sailing in the country, im. Bydgoszcz of Ignacy Jan Paderewski and a river port have an International airport. In the Bydgoszcz Water Hub two international inland waterways are meeting, linking river basins of Western and Eastern Europe.

Bydgoszcz is also a tourist centre. The old town located in meanders of the Brdy river is meriting attention (a Fordon old person is the second old town area on the Vistula), the Mill Island, Bydgoszcz Venice and the city centre with the city Art Nouveau building development, historic churches, four Catholic, numerous sanctuaries museums. He is a unique monument oldest, active in Poland artificial watercourse – Bydgoszcz Channel (1774 r.) with the system of locks. An interesting elevation is making the image of the city rich from the side of the river (waterfront), particularly in the evening, after illumination of buildings. After Brdzie in the season three river buses which are treated as centres of the traction are sailing regularly.

Bydgoszcz is a city about the historical certificate, for which the specificity is manifesting itself above all in the symbiosis between the Old Town and the river and the XIX-wiecznej universality of the building development from the period „ belle epoque ”. Little it stayed in the city of Old Polish monuments, however a rich architectural legacy is filling this gap up from period 1850 - 1914. However water is a basic and original advantage of Bydgoszcz: rivers, channels, hydrotechnical buildings, boulevards, wharves, cascades and the elevation of the building development of the city from the side of the river. The old town and the city centre are a tourist product with their historical laying out and with monuments of architecture: with churches, with granaries, with public buildings, decorated with developed streets with tenements.
