Rewrite this description of the Monument in the Present or Past Simple passive.

The architect Christopher Wren designed the Monument. The built it between 1671 and 1677 to commemorate the Great Fire of London. They brought the stone for the Monument 300 kilometers from portland, on the south coast of England. In the 17th century scientists also used it as a laboratory for experiments on gravity. In 1846 they put a roof on the balcony to stop people jumping off. If you climb the 311 steps to the top, they give you a cerficate.
