José Alberto Mujica Cordano (Montevideo, May 20, 1935), [1] known as Pepe Mujica, is a Uruguayan politician. He was the 40th President of Uruguay between 2010 and 2015.
With a past guerrilla in which integrated the Movement of National Liberation-Tupamaros, was chosen deputy and senator, later to occupy the position of minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fishing between 2005 and 2008. He is the leader of the Movement of Popular Participation, sector Majority of the left party Frente Amplio.
Since 2005, it is addressed to the senator and historical leader of the Popular Participation Movement Lucía Topolansky (1944-), after a prolonged coexistence.
