Sushi Maki is one of the most popular Sushima preparations, in which salmon and tuna are used. We show you how to prepare it step by step in a simple way
Ingredients:
250 grams of rice for Sushi
A sheet of Nori seaweed
50 grams of tuna loin
50 grams of salmon loin
Half avocado
Half a branch of celery
Half cucumber
25 grams of trout roe
Half a glass of sugar
Half a glass of mirin or rice vinegar
· Water
Wasabi, pickled ginger, soy sauce (for side)
preparation:
We get down to work with the preparation of this Maki sushi, which is surely the best known and most elaborate type of sushi. First of all, the rice is washed with water well to remove part of the starch. To make sushi, the ideal is to use a special type of rice, but you can opt for others such as basmati rice or even traditional white rice. There are also many other types of rice known as bomba rice, long grain rice, or arborio rice. We put it in a saucepan, cover it with water, and put it on the fire until it starts to boil, at which point we put it over medium heat and cover the pot so that the steam does not escape. We can use a kitchen board for this.
After ten minutes we turn off the heat and let the rice rest for another ten minutes. In a bowl we mix the mirin with the sugar and beat it all well until it is well diluted. The so-called "mirin" is a type of rice wine very similar to the well-known "sake", but with the difference that this liquid does not contain alcohol or in a very small proportion. This seasoning is used to flavor all kinds of dishes, such as fish. Pour the mixture over the cooked rice, stir and leave the saucepan covered until the rice consumes all the liquid.
Once consumed, we spread the rice on a platter and fan on it for a couple of minutes. Next we are going to prepare the filling, cutting the salmon and tuna into thin slices, as well as the celery and cucumber. Then we cut the avocado in two, remove the bone and extract its pulp. Avocado has a high fat content, so it provides a high amount of calories, approximately 140 for every 100 grams of avocado that we consume. For this reason, it is not advisable to abuse the consumption of avocado, although it has very good properties for our diet. We spread two sheets of Nori, moistened with water to help us roll them, and we spread them on two mats, one for the salmon roll and the other for the tuna roll.
We cover the sheets with the rice, leaving a good free piece on top, to be able to place the rest of the filling and then roll it up. We turn the Nori sheets over, taking care that the rice does not fall, and in one we place a little tuna on top, with a little cucumber and avocado on the side, and in the other, a little salmon and celery on the side, all cut into thin strips. If you don't like salmon, you can choose another type of fish, but if possible it has a similar flavor. Salmon is one of the best known and most consumed fish in much of the world, in addition to its extraordinary flavor it is a low-fat fish with a high content of protein and omega-3 acids. We wrap the mats, ensuring that the filling does not protrude from the sides. Once wrapped, we remove them and we have the rolls ready to cut.
We will use a very sharp knife, to which we will wet its edge with water to facilitate cuts. We can now plate the sushi slices, placing a little trout roe on top of the salmon pieces, a good alternative to caviar with an excellent flavor. Sturgeon roe is traditionally called caviar, a fish that lives in many rivers in our country and in the center of the Asian continent. These roe are considered a delicacy and are very expensive on the market. And to enjoy these great sushi bites, accompanied by pieces of wasabi, pickled ginger and soy sauce.
