It is present in practically all areas of human life, including education. Some enthusiasts, like Dr Sugata Mitra, even suggest that students should be allowed to use modern gadgets to go online during tests and exams. A number of experts, however, are beginning to think that technology, especially the Internet, has had a negative effect on the ability of young people to study and learn. Their most important argument is that technology is making students lazy. They argue that easy access to almost all kinds of information online kills the students' motivation to learn, not only by heart, but also through problem-solving strategies. 'Why should I try to remember this or that if I can easily find the information with a few clicks?' a student might ask. However, the huge amount of information available nowadays is causing another problem. Some secondary school teachers in the UK say that a lot of students do not critically reflect on the information they find online. 'They believe almost anything they find on the Internet,' says one of the teachers. Then their homework is full of wrong information, simply because they don't think it is necessary to check the details in a few other sources.' Because students depend on technology for their studies, most of them always keep their computers, tablets or smartphones at hand while doing homework. They text people, start using social media or listen to music. Some psychologists argue that this can negatively affect the students' ability to pay attention to one task for a long time. According to Clifford Nass, who was a professor at Stanford University, doing several things at once kills creativity and makes you feel bored with a task much more quickly. use modern gadgets 1 Dr Mitra would like to allow students to in an exam. 2 Some experts say that that makes students less motivated to learn. all kinds of information online other sources 3 There are mistakes in students' homework because they don't check the information in 4 Professor Nass suggests that multitasking makes you uncreator and bored more quickly.
