Ron Cornelius
and his wife were
sleeping in their
house in Colorado,
USA, when they
suddenly heard
a loud noise
They ran outside
and found a neighbour's car by their house.
The back window of the car was broken,
and the radio and steering wheel were lying
on the floor of the car. Who drove the car
from the neighbour's house to their house?
Who damaged the car? Was it a car thief?
Was it a vandal? Ron and his wife were very
scared and they called the police. But when
the police arrived, they found some strange
claw marks inside the car. They were marks
from a bear! In fact, the criminal was a bear.
It was probably looking for food and broke
into the car. Then it couldn't get out of the car
it was trapped. While the bear was trying
to escape, it hit the brake and then the car
rolled down the hill to Ron's house. There
are more than 20,000 bears in the state
of Colorado, and sometimes they break into
cars or steal food from rubbish bins. But they
don't usually drive cars as well!
