One day, Toba fishing. At that time, he caught ika large and heavy, and brought into the house. He leave them for a short shower, but when he saw that he kept the fish was, he did not find where the fish were. He was very sad. After that, he walked into his room and found a pretty girl look in the mirror.

"Who are you? Why did you get here?" he said surprised."I was the fish that you had, thank you do not eat me."Toba silent, but she replied, "Let me stay here a while."Toba allow him to stay, but eventually they fell in love and married. Before they were married, she said, "Promise you will not tell anyone that I was from the fish."Toba afford it then they get married.
Soon she was pregnant and had a child. His name Samosir. He is very naughty and disobedient to his parents. Even so both parents are very fond of him.

Once, his mother sends food to Toba. But on the way he is hungry and spend his father's food. Toba so angry and beat him, while saying, "The brat! Children whose mother came from a fish!"
Samosir roared home crying to his mother. Hearing his story, his mother told him to climb the hill and remained stand there.
Mother while grieving told him that he was very upset because her husband violated his oath. Then he turned into a fish and a great flood came. Finally, the area is occupied by lakes and hills Samosir named Samosir.
