Contoh:

Main Clause: It started to rain (Simple Past)

Subordinating Conjunction: while

Adverb Clause: we were waiting for the bus this morning. (Past Continuous)

Simple Past Formula: S + V2 + O

Past Continuous: S + was/were + V-ing + O

➡️ Rumusnya:

• (+) S + V2
• (-) S + did + not + V1
• (?) Did + S + V1?

➡️ Contohnya:

• Jenny tidak tidur di rumah temannya akhir pekan lalu.

B. PAST CONTINUOUS adalah tenses yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan yang sedang berlangsung atau sebuah aksi sedang terjadi di masa lampau.

➡️ Ciri waktu:

• at this time yesterday
• Yesterday afternoon
• When / While

➡️ Rumusnya:

• (+) S + was/were + V-ing
• (-) S + was/were + not +V-ing
• (?) was/were + S + V-ing?

➡️ Contohnya:

(2) I was listening to music at this time yesterday. (Saya sedang mendengarkan musik di waktu ini kemarin).

• Ini berarti di waktu yang berlangsung saat ini di waktu kemarin saya sedang mendengarkan musik.

(4) We were not playing soccer at 4 PM yesterday afternoon. (Kami tidak sedang bermain sepakbola jam 4 sore di waktu siang kemarin).

• Ini berarti di waktu tersebut tidak sedang berlangsung kegiatan bermain sepakbolanya.
