1) The text is about misunderstandings in communication between the Britishs and Americans. One word in British English means something different in American English, especially it concerns vocabulary connected with food. For example "A brew" for the Englishman is "a cup of tea", but for the American it means "beer". There're a lot of words which have different meaning in Amercian and British English. For example: 'peckish' in BrE means 'hungry' in AmE - 'irritable' or 'angry'. But fortunately they have some word which mean the same.

 

2) The text is about history of advertising. The oldest known advertisements are from 4000 BC. Times have changes and advertisements have changed too. Now we use new technologies. When people suffered from many ilnesses the most popular adverisement was for medicines.

This text is about history of developing  advertising. We know, that now we have a lot of kinds of avertisments. But few centurys ago there were only on papyrus posters or on rocks. The oldest are from 4000BC!  In the 19th century we have done big progress- there showed commercials with pictures and colours. In turn, in 20th century  when appeared free time between programmes in the radio sponsor started to selling this time for advertisments.

DIVIDED BY A COMMON LANGUAGE

This text tells about differences between British and American languages. This people are often confused, because some words are completely different from each other.F.e. for the American "chips" means "czipsy" and for the British means "frytki". You see, you have to be very careful when you are talking with the American or the British.
