FAMILY SAVED FROM LAKE BY STUDENTS

The three local students from Durham Lake have spoken to our reporter about the incident. We saw the car roll into the water. It sank immediately so we quickly took off our trainers and jeans and jumped in. We struggled to open the car doors and we pulled the family out. Mr Thomas, who was driving the car, said they were just parking therir car by the lake to go for a walk, when the car rolled into the water.

SON SAVED

Ten-year-old Gavin Hastings was walking his gog by the side of the lake when he slipped and feel in. The dog climbed out but the boy's clothes were heavy and he was struggling to keep his head above the water. John Hastings who saw his son fall in, ran down to the lake. He told us, I thought, I have to dive in-so I did. I pushed Gavin out of the water and then I climbed out.
