Poniewaz byli słabi i bezradni, opiekowal sie nimi troskliwie. Kiedy zeus zażądał od smiertelnych ofiary, Prometeusz oszukał go podstepem . Kiedy rozgniewany Zeus odmówił ludziom daru ognia ,mądry tytan skradł go z ognistego rydwanu Heliosa. Dał w ten sposób ludziom ciepło i broń przeciwko dzikim zwierzętom. Uwolnił go Herakles, zabijając sępa i rozbijając maczugą kajdany.

The giver of fire Prometheus was a stron and wise titan, who loved people. After terrible gods' battles for power, earth became an empty land, so he made people of clay. Because they were weak and helpless, he took care of them. When Zeus asked for a sacrifice from the mortals, Prometheus mischieved him. When angry Zeus refused to give them fire, the wise titan stole it from the fiery chariot of Helios. He gave people warmth and weapon against wild animals. He also taught people how to cultivate the land, mine copper and gold from it and how to make boats. For his love to people he was punished by Zeus - he was chained to Caucasus rocks, where he was hanging above the precipice, being in great pain. What is more, a vulture tore out of him a piece of liver, and this piece was constantly growing back. He was set free by Hercules, who killed the vulture and broke the chains with his club. Moreover, old centaur Chejron, who suffered from mortal wound, went to Hades in his place. Gods admitted Prometheus to Mount Olympus, but he never forgot about people and always took care of them.
