Every three seconds,a child dies in a war of conflict somewhere in the world.In some countries,children are both the victims and the soldiers in these conflicts.This is the story of one girl who escaped a life of violence.Senait Mehari is a successful model and pop star.She is now a popular singer in Germant,but her life has not always been so happy.When Senait was only a few weeks old, she was found in a suitcase in a house in Eritrea.Her mother had abandoned her, and she was found by a neighbour.She spend the next three years in orphanages,until her hather was found and she was sent to him.
Senait and her two stepsisters lived in poverty.Their father couldn't feed or look after his dauhters,so he sent them to a camp where children were trained to become soldiers.At the age of six and a half,a gun was put into Senait's hands for the first time.The gun was so big,it knocked me down,she remembers.I couldn't do it.From that day,my work was to look for wood,food and water.But to see war is the same thing, whether you shoot or not-you see the violence all around you.
Every gady at the camp,Senait experienced cold hunger and gear.When one of her uncles finally found her and rescued her,she had been there for there years.Three nights after her escape,watching the news,she saw that bombs had fallen on the camp and many of the people there had died.
Senait's uncle and grandparents lookend after her for four years,until her uncle bought her plane ticket to Germany,whre her father had emigrated to escape from the war in Eritrea.Her new life in Germany was not easy,but her determination,faith and her love of music pushed her forward.She survived.She says I'm a person who never lost hope.
