Tomatina is a festival which takes place in Buñol on the last Wednesday in August. Tomatina started the last Wednesday of August in 1945 when some young people went to the town square to attend the Giants and Big-Heads figures parade. The energy of these young people caused one person to fall off the float. This man started to hit vegetables to the people, mainly tomatoes. The following year situation reapeded. For 1957 years people fought to throwing tomatoes was legal. Since 1980, the city authorities deliver tomatoes on an annual battle. At around 10 a.m., festivities begin with the first event of the Tomatina. One people climbs the pole greased with butter with a piece of ham on top. When he succeeds, someone shoots out of a cannon and starts the battle for tomatoes. After an hour, cannon shoots out again and ends the festival. I think this festival is very strange, but excellent. I would like to one day take part in it.
